Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DrupalCamp?

Drupal is a free open-source content management system (CMS) written in the PHP programming language. DrupalCamps are community sharing + training events for Drupal enthusiasts and newbies alike. Florida DrupalCamp is an attendee-driven, completely volunteer initiative modeled after the open, participatory nature of barcamps. The event is catered towards everyone – curious beginners, designers, developers, and business owners are all welcome!

What's the goal of Florida DrupalCamp?

Our mission and purpose behind organizing a Florida DrupalCamp is as follows:

  1. We want to educate people about the Drupal CMS.
  2. Provide networking opportunities for all of us.
  3. We want to learn from you!

Where and when is Florida DrupalCamp this year?

Florida DrupalCamp is a jam-packed learning experience to be held at Florida Technical College in Orlando, Fl. on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Registration will be from 8-9am EDT, the camp will start at 9am, and after-hours party will be from 5:30pm-? EDT.

How much does Florida DrupalCamp cost?

The cost to attend is $25 (early-bird registration is only $20!), and includes continental breakfast, a catered boxed lunch, and an afternoon snack. If you would like to support our local Drupal community further, you can become an Individual Sponsor for only $25. The sponsorship includes your registration, t-shirt, and shout-out on our sponsor page. All proceeds will go to offset expenses, help to deter no-shows, and make donations to the Orlando Drupal User Group or Drupal Association.

How many are you expecting?

We’ve moved to a new home this year so that we can accommodate 300+ attendees. The past few years events have sold out and had waiting lists, so registering as soon as possible is highly encouraged.

How can I register someone else for Florida DrupalCamp?

You'll first need to have this person create an account on our website. Be sure to get their username, shirt size, and meal preference (veggie, vegan, no-gluten) from them. From here, register just like normal. It will ask you for who this registration is for. Select "Other Account", and start typing in the username of the soon-to-be registrant in the field that appears. The field will auto-complete, and you can complete their registration like normal.

Will I receive any registration materials in the mail?

No, everything is handled online. Show up with an ID that matches your registration.
We’ll send you a few emails leading up to the conference, but that’s it. Then when you sign in at Florida DrupalCamp, all you need to do is provide your registration information.

Can I pay with a purchase order/check/cash?

We can only accept credit cards and PayPal .

Is Florida DrupalCamp a good event for newbies?

Absolutely! We have a special Beginner’s track for those who are just familiarizing themselves with Drupal. This year we are pleased to announce that OS Training, a professional Drupal Training company, will be presenting the entire Beginner Drupal training track.

When will the session submission process close?

The deadline for submitting a session will be Sunday, March 31, 2013 at at Midnight EDT. However, we would highly encourage you to submit your session as soon as possible to allow more time for commenting, and general interaction. The organizers will then finalize the schedule, contact the speakers selected to present, and post the final schedule on the website.

If I am selected to present a session, what do I need to bring?

All audio / visual equipment will be provided – just bring your slide-deck and laptop.
