Florida DrupalCamp 2013

Sat. April 20, 2013 @ Florida Technical College in Orlando, FL

Florida Drupal Camp announces Coding for a Cause organizations

On Sunday April 21, attendees of Florida Drupal Camp will participate in "Coding for a Cause" to create websites for selected deserving organizations. All attendees interested in participating in these fun and educational events are invited to attend on Sunday. More information about how to get involved and learn how to quickly build a Drupal site will be posted later.

The Selection Committee reviewed all applications for a match with the published criteria. We had more applications from worthy organizations than we were able to select for this year’s event. If your organization was not selected we hope you will attend the conference and apply again next year.

This year the participating organizations fall into two categories. Traditional Coding for a Cause websites are completed by a team of volunteers who meet and complete the exercise in a single day and longer term projects. If you are interested in being a Project Leaders or technical advisory for these causes please let us know.

The organizations selected for the traditional Coding for a Cause event are:

Helpertunity

Helpertunity supports recreation, education, and volunteer activities for elderly, disabled and homeless persons in Nursing Homes, Day Programs and Care Shelters through direct-contact events, and by supporting the work of Activity Specialists and Community Volunteers, through resources and professional development training.

Orlando Music Club

The Orlando Music Club (OMC) serves the greater Orlando community by encouraging and recognizing musical excellence by offering music students scholarships, awards, and performance opportunities, and by providing music teachers access to resources, materials, competitions, and training.

Theatre A La Carte

Theatre A La Carte helps create high-quality award-winning musical theatre, cultivate an environment of artistic excellence and education for artists, audiences and the community, and advance knowledge, skills and participation in the theatre arts by producing a wide variety of contemporary musical theatre.

Longer Projects for non-profits

In addition, two deserving organizations are participating in a longer-term project. New volunteers are invited to participate in these efforts before, during or after the Sunday Coding for a Cause events. To contact the Project Leaders for these longer term projects through the Drupal Camp Homepage, go to Attendees (under Community), click on the Project Leaders name and send a message via the contact button.

Florida East Coast Greenway

The Florida East Coast Greenway, a chapter of the East Coast Greenway Alliance (ECGA), works to establish, preserve, manage and maintain the East Coast Greenway Trail Network, a long-distance, multi-user transportation and recreation trail network that connects major urban centers along the East Coast between Florida and Maine.
