Solving Open Government Challenges with Drupal
Government sectors are being pressured to become more transparent and communicate government activity to the public. With the leading open source technologies from Drupal and Alfresco, more government agencies are building and managing web and intranet properties under the open government principle.
This session will demonstrate how the integration of Drupal and Alfresco allows for a powerful combination that is specifically tailored to help government agencies with these challenges. This solution allows for the Drupal front-end and its usability features to be provided to constituents while the Alfresco back-end maintains the robust security and workflow features required of federal document management solutions.
During this session, we will illustrate how this solution can handle one of the biggest problems facing the open government initiative: compliance with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. We will illustrate:
•How the Drupal front-end allows for citizens to submit requests via a link on the agencies website
•How FOIA managers receive the request in the Alfresco back-end through CMIS Integration and workflow is maintained
•How the results from the request are then published back out into Drupal
