Solving Open Government Challenges with Drupal
Project Mgmt, Sales and Consulting | IntermediateGovernment sectors are being pressured to become more transparent and communicate government activity to the public. With the leading open source technologies from Drupal and Alfresco, more government agencies are building and managing web and intranet properties under the open government principle.
This session will demonstrate how the integration of Drupal and Alfresco allows for a powerful combination that is specifically tailored to help government agencies with these challenges. This solution allows for the Drupal front-end and its usability features to be provided to constituents while the Alfresco back-end maintains the robust security and workflow features required of federal document management solutions.
During this session, we will illustrate how this solution can handle one of the biggest problems facing the open government initiative: compliance with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. We will illustrate:
•How the Drupal front-end allows for citizens to submit requests via a link on the agencies website
•How FOIA managers receive the request in the Alfresco back-end through CMIS Integration and workflow is maintained
•How the results from the request are then published back out into Drupal
Drupal and Phonegap Integration
Development & Performance | IntermediateMobile is growing fast: 25x over the next five years. In a year or two (if not now), not being present on mobile in a focused manner will be the equivalent of not being present on the web today. With so many mobile platforms and device types available, building effective, sustainable mobile solutions across such platforms is complex and costly.
In this session, we will discuss the integration of Drupal with PhoneGap. This integration enables content from your Drupal site to be converted into mobile app(s) for a wide variety of mobile platforms, including iOS, Android, BlackBerry and several others. The open source PhoneGap allows us to take the power of a content driven Drupal site to a wide variety of mobile devices.
During this session, we will also highlight Armedia's recent integration of Drupal and PhoneGap and demo the resulting product, The Well Project Mobile App, which delivers information to women around the world who are afflicted with HIV and AIDS.
This session will cover:
- Integrating Drupal with PhoneGap
- Best practices for building and deploying mobile solutions across multiple mobile platforms
- Highlighting a real-life use case, around access to HIV information, built on this solution
